The veil between our world and the afterlife

How spirit connects when the veil is thin during Halloween

What would you say if you could talk to your dearly departed?

I miss you.

I love you.

I’m sorry.

I can hear you say, “I already do.”

Okay, but, would it be a little spooky to receive their response?

That possibility exists for you now more than ever.

’Tis the season for paying tribute to the dead; Mexican’s Day of the Dead pays homage to their deceased loved ones. All Hallow’s Day (or All Saints Day) acknowledge the spirits of known and unknown saints. All Souls Day commemorates departed Christians. And last but not least, Halloween, traditionally recognized for costumes that ward off evil spirits or ghosts. These dates are not limited to mega retail promotional holidays. Cultures around the globe celebrate the deceased throughout the last week in October into the first week of November. When large swathes of the population connect with the dead, the veil between our world and the afterlife becomes transparent.

I’m not saying a ghost will spontaneously appear as they do in scary movies. It’s more subtle than this, such as receiving a loved one in a dream or you recall a fond memory when you stumble across their photograph. Their song plays over the radio, or you hear their call in the middle of the night. You smell their aftershave or perfume. Or you have an overwhelming sense their spirit is present. While you might shrug off these fleeting moments or think you’re going crazy, their spirit has touched you from beyond the veil.

What is the veil? The veil is our limited conscious awareness of our multi-dimensional world. It blinds us from divine truth that our connection to all things, includes the spiritual realm. Our world is wide open when masses turn their attention towards spirit.

We are one.

We all come from the same place despite our differences in color, gender, and faith. Our mind, however, is good at compartmentalizing an ‘us against them’ mentality. It also has a knack for rationalizing that we aren’t a whole person but instead separated into fractions of mind, body and spirit. The mind is only a mind that is protected by the outer shell of a body. Then you have this thing called a spirit, which goes without saying ~ does it exist if we don’t see it?

How is it people can talk over cellular phone without seeing any lines?

I go to a yoga studio that labeled one of their classrooms the ‘mind and body’ room without any mention of spirit ~ as if it doesn’t exist. That’s like saying your arm isn’t part of the body, so let’s pretend it isn’t there, and maybe the whole idea of how to use it will go away. When we ignore our spirit, we disconnect from other souls on all planes. The veil limits our full human potential to explore and access other spheres of existence that can empower our life journey here and now.

Under a scope, Earth appears a little nutty. We live in a world of duality between fear versus love that leads to a constant state of influx and confusion. Fear plays a significant role in our inability to access the big picture; only love is real. The veil is fear and ignorance. Fear of the unknown is a scary place where many don’t dare venture. And death is the biggest fear, second to public speaking, for all people.

It is difficult for us to recognize our truth when we are at fear’s mercy. Grief, anger, sorrow, hate, and greed; all those beautiful emotions that rule the human experience can cripple our soul. Suppressing your feelings can lower your energy and decrease your power. We also lose touch with these intuitive signals that may provide the answers to our prayers. Humans who have lost their way, disconnected from spirit, are called lost souls. They capitalize on other people’s fears to manipulate their mind field at their advantage.

Metaphorically speaking, we want to open the blinds to let the light in and enrich your life. By reconnecting to your mind, body, and soul, you can tap into your power, peer beyond the veil, to make better decisions in your life.

Can you imagine how you would feel to discover your loved one is at peace? At the very least, you can find closure and begin your healing journey sooner than later.

You don’t have to wait for a holiday to connect with spirit. Follow these fail-proof (because you already are hardwired to connect) exercises for receiving spiritual insight to make life worth living.

1) Process emotions to set yourself free. Avoiding your feelings only builds walls and makes the veil impenetrable. Our society has an epidemic of popping pills to dull our senses when things get tough (I’m not including mental illness in this category). Your spirit is trying to communicate via emotional signals in the body; pay attention even to the pain.

2) Head outdoors to increase your energy. Nature is a healing balm for releasing negativity in our lives. The Japanese have recognized this alternative healing source as ‘forest bathing’ to help clear the soul. If you can’t escape to a forest, walk outdoors to bask in the sun for 10–15 minutes. Small doses of vitamin D will do your mind, body, and soul sound. Your high vibes are more receptive to hear the call.

3) Make time to socialize. Just as plants need the sun to grow, we need human contact to survive. And not social media connections. Face to face human interactions are the most ideal (sorry pet lovers)! The late Dr. Kubler-Ross encouraged her patients who were plagued by grief, to hug a minimum of four times a day to survive. Eight hugs were necessary to maintain your existence. But if you want to thrive as a human being, reach out for 12 hugs a day.

4) Give yourself TLC. A little tender loving care can make all the difference to your heart, mind, and soul. The three basics we always hear but do not always follow through is getting the proper rest, exercise, and nutrition to energize. Do what makes you feel good, and you’ll have found the key to open the door into other worlds.
